HFCIM 7.2T Large-Diameter Superconducting Magnet Passes Acceptance Test

On July 5th, experts from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Hefei International Center for Applied Superconductivity reviewed the 7.2T superconducting magnet system for the 170GHz gyrotron developed independently by the China Academy of Sciences.

The project team provided a detailed report on the technical specifications and development process of the magnet equipment. The expert panel witnessed on-site testing of the device's key performance indicators. The superconducting magnet system uses conduction cooling, with a room-temperature aperture of 165mm. The maximum magnetic field at the center of the room-temperature aperture reaches 7.28T, the axis field error meets design specifications, and the field's concentricity with the room-temperature aperture is less than 0.08mm.

After inquiries, on-site inspections, and testing, the expert panel unanimously agreed that the superconducting magnet meets the technical specifications required for the 170GHz superconducting magnet for gyrotron, including electrical performance and magnetic field accuracy.

The Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Hefei International Center for Applied Superconductivity provided significant support for the development of this magnet. The 7.2T superconducting magnet system successfully developed by HFICM has broad application prospects in medical devices and high-power fusion reactors, and can support the localization of key components in large scientific facilities.
